Baseline studies to inform restoration actions

Task 2.2 · Work package 2 — Preparatory Actions

This task establishes the scientific baseline for NewLIFE4BioIslands by assessing the initial ecological conditions of the project intervention sites. The data generated through this task will guide the design and implementation of restoration actions, ensuring that interventions are adapted to local environmental conditions and conservation needs.

The baseline studies include assessments of pollinator communities, native vegetation, habitat condition, and the main environmental pressures affecting each restoration area. Standardised field surveys and ecological monitoring methods will be used to provide robust and comparable data across all project sites.

The task will also evaluate site-specific factors relevant to restoration planning, including seed availability, ecosystem degradation, and local climatic conditions. These studies will provide the reference indicators needed to measure the ecological impact of the project and support evidence-based restoration throughout the implementation period.

Join our BioBlitz events

A BioBlitz is an intensive biodiversity survey where volunteers work together to identify and record as many insect species as possible within a defined area, assisted by a local entomologist. Leave us your details and we will let you know about upcoming events.
