Information and awareness-raising

Task 6.3 · Work package 6 — Communication and Dissemination

Increasing public awareness and stakeholder engagement is essential to ensure the long-term success of biodiversity restoration and pollinator conservation. This task will implement a broad programme of communication, education, and outreach activities aimed at strengthening public understanding of ecosystem restoration and encouraging active participation in conservation efforts.

The main actions include:

  • Public and stakeholder engagement: Delivery of awareness-raising activities for local communities, schools, environmental organisations, land managers, researchers, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Educational events and workshops: Organisation of talks, training sessions, and participatory activities across the project regions to promote knowledge of pollinators, ecosystem services, and restoration practices.
  • Digital communication campaigns: Development of online communication and social media initiatives to increase the visibility of project activities and reach wider audiences.
  • Citizen participation events: Promotion of public involvement through biodiversity-related events, educational campaigns, and hands-on restoration activities.
  • Media outreach and impact evaluation: Dissemination of project achievements through media engagement and assessment of changes in public knowledge, attitudes, and awareness resulting from communication activities.

Led by GESPLAN, this task will help build long-term public support for biodiversity restoration and strengthen the social foundations needed for the conservation of Mediterranean and Macaronesian ecosystems.

Join our BioBlitz events

A BioBlitz is an intensive biodiversity survey where volunteers work together to identify and record as many insect species as possible within a defined area, assisted by a local entomologist. Leave us your details and we will let you know about upcoming events.
