Engagement strategy for implementation

Task 3.1 · Work package 3 — Implementation of the Biodiversity Island Restoration Approach

Successful ecological restoration depends on the active involvement of the people and organisations connected to the project landscapes. This task builds on the preparatory stakeholder engagement activities by strengthening long-term participation during the implementation phase of NewLIFE4BioIslands.

Led by GESPLAN with the participation of all project partners, the task will support the continued operation of local working groups, foster collaboration with landowners, farmers, and livestock managers, and encourage voluntary agreements that contribute to restoration and sustainable land management. Citizen science networks, environmental organisations, educational institutions, and local communities will also be actively involved in biodiversity monitoring and restoration activities.

By promoting shared responsibility and long-term stewardship, this task aims to ensure that restoration actions are socially supported, locally relevant, and sustained beyond the project implementation period, strengthening the long-term conservation of restored Mediterranean ecosystems.

Join our BioBlitz events

A BioBlitz is an intensive biodiversity survey where volunteers work together to identify and record as many insect species as possible within a defined area, assisted by a local entomologist. Leave us your details and we will let you know about upcoming events.
